Seeking Pasta Perfection

Rock is filled with talented musicians who formed bands and went on to form new bands, frequently moving in different directions while putting their creative mark on all they touched along the way.

Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, King Crimson and Led Zeppelin are great examples of legendary bands where the members came from other bands and later joined new ones, often producing a new sound.

In a similar way, many talented entrepreneurs created pasta companies then moved on to create new, often better ones. Indeed, they were skilled at gelatinizing a group into a rock-solid team. One place that experienced this kind of activity was central California in the 20th century, some 50 years before the rock scene exploded in nearby Los Angeles and San Francisco.

At the turn of the 20th century, Alfonso Borelli left Italy for Denver, Colorado and began working at the Western Union Macaroni Manufacturing Company, joining a crew of 20 that included his father and uncles.
