Bühler: historic owner dies at 82
A great horse lover, entrepreneur Urs Bühler, historic owner of the St. Gallen-based company of the same name, died on Friday, August 1, at the age of 82.
Born in 1943, Bühler was a significant figure in Swiss industrial history: he led the family business, founded in 1860 as a foundry, for many years, first as CEO from 1986, then as chairman of the board of directors.
Under his leadership, the Uzwil (St. Gallen) company evolved from a mechanical engineering firm into an innovative global group with a worldwide presence. Every day, billions of people come into contact with products generated by its technologies, whether it be food processed with Bühler machines or cars with its components.
